Make Noise DXG

Affording new stereo possibilities for striking and summing signals, the Make Noise DXG is a stereo lowpass gate Eurorack module adept at shaping and subtly filtering oscillators, samples, and effects chains while maintaining a full stereo image. Pairing well with modern Make Noise modules like Morphagene, Spectraphon, and XPO, the DXG also continues the decentralized mixing approach pioneered by Optomix, modDemix, and X-PAN, ensuring that it fits in with any assortment of Eurorack modules, old and new.

While it continues the lowpass gate lineage established by classic Make Noise modules such as the QMMG, Optomix, and LxD, the DXG features a new vactrol-free design resulting from months of research and careful refinement. Though beloved for their organic decay characteristics and subtle lowpass filtering within the context of a Buchla-style LPG design, no two vactrols respond in the same way due to inherent variance from one to the other. With this new circuit, Make Noise has not only allowed the DXG to behave consistently from one module to the next, but the resulting tighter tolerances are essential for proper stereo operation across the left and right channels.

DXG's two channels feature their own independent stereo inputs, with mono signals patched into the left side normalized to the right. The CTRL knob with its accompanying CV input allows you to define the amplitude and filtering of each channel, simultaneously controlling the loudness and upper-harmonic brightness of the output signals. Of course, the Make Noise signature Strike Input makes a glorious return on DXG, allowing gate and trigger signals to momentarily ping and excite the gate circuit for a bongo-like transient with a slightly gooey decay.

Both channels are summed together at the bottom of DXG, along with a stereo Aux Input for external signals. Channel two features its own output, allowing it to be processed by other modules separately—perhaps by Mimeophon? However you might choose to use it, you'll find that the Make Noise DXG is a dexterous lowpass gate platform capable of handling any mono or stereo signal you throw at it.

DXG Intro and Overview | Make Noise
The Dual Stereo Gate (DXG) music synthesizer module is a Dual Stereo Low Pass Gate and Mixer. It follows in the footsteps of the QMMG, Optomix, RxMx, DynaMix, and LxD. Unlike its predecessors, the DXG is specifically oriented around mixing stereo signals, making it an important addition to any system containing modules like XPO, QPAS, Morphagene, Mimeophon, Spectraphon, and other stereo modules by Make Noise or others.
