The Serge 2 + 2 Mixer / Dual VCA from Random Source delivers a double dose of gain management for your Eurorack system, offering both a simple mixer and dual VCA behind a single Serge-style panel. Divided into two sections, the 2 + 2 Mixer on the left provides a simple yet crucial utility for any modular system, letting you mix both audio and CV signals to produce more complex results. Inputs 1 and 2 mix together at the leftmost output, while 3 and 4 mix into their own, in-line output, letting you process two submixes individually. Between each of these outputs, a summed mix output produces a mix of all four inputs.

On the right side, the Dual VCA circuit provides two of the VCAs found in the Serge Stereo Mixer. This exponential VCA delivers a similar tone as early Serge VCAs, with a huge amount of gain available at the top end for dramatic saturation and clipping. With the ability to push signals up to 16Vpp, the cautious synthesist will readily find much creative potential in gain abuse, squaring sine and triangle waves to derive new tonal characters. Naturally, the exponential response is also great for envelope applications, offering snappy shapes that perfectly befit modular bubbles, bongos, and other 4U expressions.
