Novation Summit

Come on a journey with me as we travel through a ridge and come upon a beautiful 16 voice polyphonic hybrid synthesizer; behold my friends, for Novation has been gracious enough to lead us to the Summit. A beautiful elaboration on the Novation Peak, the Summit comes packed to the gills with features.

Thanks to Novation's proprietary New Oxford Oscillators, the Summit is capable of subtractive, FM, and wavetable synthesis methods—making the synthesizer as fluid as the streams trickling down its namesake. These oscillators are gelled together via Summit's analog multimode filter. This means that the Summit is analog where it counts, capable of handling lush brassy textures, or booming subs. The Summit also offers multitimbral options and a robust effects section that includes Distortion, Chorus, Delay and Reverb. Additionally, the synthesizer includes a stereo input that is routable to Summit's effects section and aux outputs! Make base camp at the Summit and allow yourself to get lost in the lush digital vistas of the synthesizer. Breathe in the cold mountain air and listen to the pads and winds as you're swept up in view from the Summit.

As of firmware 2.0, Summit is better than ever. The powerhouse synth now includes more effects, including flanger and phlanger, as well as Lo-Fi delay modes for extended delay times and reduced fidelity to impart antique charm. The number of effects modulation destinations has increased, meaning the effects can be integral to the sound design process. There are also new stereo spread modes that affect the spatialization of each voice,  plus more modulation sources and destinations to be utilized in crafting patches.

Novation Summit 16 Voice Polyphonic Keyboard Sounds SuperBooth 2019
Novation had their Summit 16 voice polyphonic keyboard at SuperBooth 2019 and we got this recording of some of the preset sounds built into it. The Summit is basically two Peaks with a keyboard, but there are also some extra features like stacking and splitting options. There is FM and more oscillator control on the larger front panel as well.
Novation Summit Synthesizer, It's Two Peaks And More
The Novation Summit is coming out soon and we got a chance to record some sounds from an early unit! Read our article about the Summit for more information (https://www.perfectcircuit.com/signal/novation-summit).

The Summit is a 16 voice bi-timbral synthesizer with digital oscillators and analog filters as well as effects. In addition to being like having two Peaks and a keyboard the Summit adds audio inputs and knobs for easier access to oscillator FM controls.

The digital oscillators can give you traditional analog oscillator waveforms as well as many other sounds including organs and wavetables. The multimode filter has 12 and 24db cutoff options as well as drive both before and after the filter.
Novation Summit Sounds and Stereo Spread : 16 Voice Hybrid Synthesizer w/ Rachel Eckroth
Though it has been around for a few years now, both the Summit and its keyboard-less counterpart Peak are fresh off a new firmware update from a few months back, and we're taking the opportunity to shine a bit of light on them again.

We've also invited our friend Rachel Eckroth to our studio to share some sounds and talk a bit about her favorite Summit features!
