The ADDAC208 Comparator & Rectifiers is a multi-use utility module that provides two incredibly useful synthesizer functions in a small package. A comparator is a circuit that compares a reference voltage with an input signal and outputs a voltage when the input crosses the reference voltage threshold.

A rectifier transforms AC signals to a DC signals by removing one of its polarities. ADDAC208's rectification modes include positive half rectification, negative half rectification, positive full rectification, and negative full rectification. Half wave rectification removes either positive or negative voltages from a signal and outputs only the negative or positive going portions. Full wave rectification folds the positive or negative going portions of the input voltage over onto itself and effectively doubles an input frequency.
