The SVF-1 from Tenderfoot Electronics is a state variable filter that ranges in sound from pleasant and subtle to harsh and aggressive. Both the cutoff frequency and resonance are fully voltage controllable, each offering an attenuator for fine adjustments. An additional 1V/oct input lets the SVF-1 track melodic sequences along with the input oscillator, or can be used to sequence the pitch when self-oscillating. The resonance self oscillates at high settings, so the SVF-1 can function as a sine wave oscillator.

The grit control adds distortion to the resonance in addition to the politeness push button. This button selects between "more polite" and "less polite" operation. Less polite will add additional harmonic distortion and pushes the self-oscillating sine wave into a harsher waveform. Outputs are arranged on the bottom and feature simultaneous low pass, band pass, high pass, and notch outputs. This filter sculpts the harmonic content of your sounds, providing a wide range of tones and timbres.
