Dave Smith Mopho x4

Building on the Mopho lineage and containing the same sound engine as its predecessors, the Mopho x4 is a 4-voice polysynth with a completely analog signal path. Each of the Mopho x4’s four voices contain 2 analog oscillators, 2 sub-octave generators, a selectable 2- or 4-pole Curtis low-pass filter, four LFOs, 3 envelope generators (ADSR and Delay), a 16 x 4 step sequencer, and a re-latchable arpeggiator. The Mopho also boasts 20 modulation sources that can be routed to 43 different destinations. Talk about expansive, all-analog polyphony!

Like all of Dave Smith’s devices, the Mopho x4’s front panel is arranged a logical, user-friendly layout that affords quick and easy control over the most essential parameters sans any menu diving, allowing users to program and edit on the fly. The unit also boasts a semi-weighted 44-note keyboard with velocity and aftertouch, and assignable pitch and modulation wheels.

For hardcore DSI enthusiasts, one exciting feature of the Mopho x4 is the unit’s Poly Chain port, which allows for an expansion of polyphony by allowing connectivity to the Mopho, Tetra, and Prophet ’08 synthesizers. This is a quick way to construct a huge sound using a relatively small amount of gear.
