FolkTek Mescaline v2

A revised version of the esoteric Folktek Mescaline, version two adds signal level boosts and now comes pre-assembled in gold. Mescaline is comprised of three function blocks, Channel, Motion, and Mental, and housed in a robust metal frame. The three parts work together to create a sonically unique instrument capable of whole compositions. Each of the sections are able to be installed in a Eurorack case individually or as a group, and can be powered by a eurorack power supply or with the provided 12v power adapter.

Channel is a ten note polyphonic touch based synthesizer with ten filtered square wave oscillators each with a VCA with decay. Each note can be tuned using trim pots and also features a master pitch control to tune all notes simultaneously. Channel also features four selectable DSP effects; a spacious reverb, a short delay, a pitch shifting delay, and a reverse delay. Each effect has controls for mix, two effect controls, and a low pass filter. Additionally, the DSP section features the ability to process external signals such as those from Mental or any other gear via a 3.5mm jack. Version 2 adds gain stage adjustments and noise filtering.

Motion is comprised of two sequencers, with internal or external clock controls with available clock divider. It features an eight part CV sequencer useful for sequencing Channel, Mental, or any other CV-enabled gear. A gate sequencer produces gate signals as well as trigger signals which trigger optocouplers in Channel to provide sine-based modulation. These are especially useful for controlling Mental’s many patch points.

Mental is a complex sound source capable of drums, drones, audio processing, and so much more. Based on Folktek’s Materia, Mentalis, and Matter modules, it takes these foundations and expands on them. Trigger it from Motion’s gate sequencer for complex beats and rhythms. Let it drone for rich and textural soundscapes. Filter, mangle, and distort external sound sources including Channel or any other synthesizer sound source. Mental begs for experimentation with removable breadboard and patchable potentiometers. Version 2 adds a signal boost to Mental as well as expands the primary patchbay by two rows.
