Tegeler Audio Manufaktur Vari Tube Recording Channel VTRC

Tegeler Audio's Vari Tube Recording Channel, VTRC for short, is a modern and flexible solution for giving your recordings that "wow" factor, combing a preamp, EQ, and two types of compression into one powerful package. Thanks to its flexible I/O, the VTRC can fit into any part of the recording or mixing process, with separate input transformers for the Microphone and Line inputs as well as a high-impedance input on the front for guitars and basses. From there, an abundance of routing options and settings allow you to shape audio to your whim—bypass any section you don't currently need to use, or engage everything for a full console-style channel strip.

Any good channel strip needs a healthy preamp, and the VTRC certainly delivers on that front. A healthy amount of gain allows for both clean, transparent boost as well as vintage-flavored saturation at higher settings. From there, signals enter either the EQ or compression stages, depending on the position of the routing switch. The EQ is a passive Pultec-style design, with three bands assignable across the entire audio frequency spectrum. Boost your low or top-end signals, and cut out any pesky mid-range signals that are muddying things up. As for the compression, you get the option of Vari Tube compressor, optical compressor, or both at the same time! Each compressor has its own bypass switch, and share settings on the Compression control and Release switch, with Fast, Slow, and Auto options for the latter. A final Output level control tames things down where needed, and a handy VU meter with mode switches allows you to monitor your signal levels throughout the entire VTRC.

The Vari Tube Recording Channel offers stepped potentiometers, so you can easily revisit settings across multiple sessions. Modern productions deserve a device with modern sound and features, which is precisely what Tegeler Audio's VTRC provides.
