Strymon Volante Magnetic Tape Echo Pedal

Strymon's Volante is a multi-head tape delay and spring reverb pedal that does everything from washy atmospheres to layered Frippertronics, extreme feedback, and beyond. Similar in concept to their modern classic Magneto Eurorack module, the Volante presets a four-head tape delay architecture with options for sound-on-sound looping, spring reverb, and more. Musicians can introduce variable amounts of mechanical malfunction and tape wear for the sound of true vintage gear, while individual controls for level, feedback, and panning for each head offer the tools needed for endlessly rich soundscapes. Three delay types and control of head spacing provide additional control for timbral quality and rhythmic structure, while integrated reverse and tape stop effects provide access to classic tape techniques conspicuously missing from most delay pedals.

The Volante is the next in a long line of simply spectacular products from Strymon, this time offering the experience of multi-tap tape delay in a package irresistable to any guitarist, synthesist, or producer seeking superior sound.

Strymon Volante Delay Pedal With DFAM NAMM 2019
Strymon Volante is Strymon's new delay pedal with three different magnetic delay models including one drum delay and two tape delays. I has four tape heads with continuously variable spacing and a built in spring reverb emulation. We ran a Moog DFAM through the Volante at NAMM and it makes the DFAM sound massive.
Strymon Volante - Studio Echo Examples - Demo
In this video we hear several Volante studio (reel-to-reel) echo examples.

True Studio Tape Sound.
The professional reel-to-reel machines of the 50s and 60s were high-fidelity units built to accurately reproduce full-range audio signals. In the hands of creative engineers, these machines also doubled as some of the earliest studio effects, producing some of the fattest sounds imaginable.

Of Volante’s three magnetic echo types, the Studio Echo provides the cleanest sound, able to sustain the highest number of repeats with minimal degradation. Volante gives you a pristine studio delay with the full-bodied warmth and fidelity of reel-to-reel tape.
