Retroaktiv PG-800 MINI
The PG-800 Mini is a small controller designed for use with the Roland JX-8P and Super JX synthesizers. As such, it bears the same functionality as its grandmother, the original PG-800. A true testament to ingenuity, the controller fits snugly inside either synthesizer's chassis.
Functionally, the PG-800 has some notable improvements that its ancestor simply cannot understand; surely, this makes for some akward dinner conversations. These functions include a Scratch patch generator, Random patch generator, copy & paste, and an output disable mode. Scratch allows users to generate a simple scratch program by tapping a button. Random generates a random tone at the push of a button. Copy and paste saves the current knob configuration and makes transfering tones between programs a synch. Output disable mode forces the device to cease transmitting messages to its host synthesizer, which is extremely useful for live performances and similar applications.
If all that wasn't enough, the PG-800 MINI also includes Vecoven 4.x firmware, which shifts the orentation of the Write button to a Page 2 function, which can then govern all 40 extra parameters. This includes Envelopes 1-4, LFO 2, LFO sync, PWM, balance, vibrato amount, aftertouch on the VCF, and aftertouch volume. All in all, users can control up to 88 parameters!
