Raw Yaw Media Torus

Torus from Raw Yaw Media, a stereo harmonic looper and overdubbing recorder, introduces classic DAW audio manipulation techniques into your Eurorack workflow, including reverse, pitch-shifting, and sequencing . Four, 16-step pattern banks are available to record into, with lengths determined by divisions or multiplications of a clock signal. These patterns can then be chained together to create longer loops and sequences. Recorded loops are then mixed with incoming audio via the mix knob or CV input.

Once you've recorded some audio by pressing the record button or sending a gate signal to the record input, buffers can be manipulated in a number of ways. Each track can be overdubbed and mixed with new material by recording once again. An octave switch halves or doubles the rate of the clock signal, in turn affecting the speed and pitch of recorded audio. For more granular pitch manipulation, turn the harm knob to shift the pitch of your loop to other harmonically related divisions. These loops can also be played in reverse via the reverse button or by sending a gate to the reverse CV input.

While a powerhouse looper on its own, Torus features a wide array of CV and gate inputs for interacting with your modular system. Clock input and output allows you to control the loop length and playback speed with external clocks, or use the tappable internal clock to control other devices. A reset output is also included, which sends a gate output when the current pattern resets. A separate harmonic output sends multiplications of the clock as gate signals, up to 16x the clock frequency. Recording, reversing and clearing is controllable via gate input, and mix and harmonic settings have dedicated CV inputs.

Torus excels at turning a simple input signal into a harmonically vast texture of looping material through iterative recording and sample manipulation. Make chordal sequences, contrapuntal interactions, or endlessly morphing cacophony from a single source. No matter your loop mangling needs, Torus has you covered.
