Noise Engineering Tymp Legio
Bringing percussion to the Legio format, Tymp Legio is a spin-off of Noise Engineering's classic Basimilus Iteritas Alter, but offers a streamlined feature-set and a few clever tricks of its own. Patch a trigger or gate into the Hit input, and you're already well on your way to crafting fiery percussion. Dial it in further with Pitch, amplitude Decay, and Wackitude—a fun name for timbre—then explore alternative sounds through the left and right toggle switches. With names that employ onomatopoeia, it's easy to remember what each one does: Boot handles kicks and low-end, Cat covers snares and toms, and Boing brings metallic and cymbal-type sounds to the fold.
Despite being a percussive voice, Tymp Legio still has audio inputs—as all Legio modules do—but uses them in a rather clever way. In Boot and Cat modes, external audio signals patched into TL will have sidechain-style ducking applied to them every time the module is triggered. And should you ever tire of Tymp Legio's constant percussive tendencies, all Legio modules support alternative firmwares, and Noise Engineering is always cooking up new sonic treats that may be easily flashed onto your module. The BIA is irreplaceable, but Tymp Legio holds it own as a heavy-weight percussion voice in its own right.
