Mystic Circuits Portal

Mystic Circuits presents Portal, a harmonic distortion/wave-wrapper that creates monstrous distortion perfect for adding bite to almost any sound. What sets Portal apart from a typical wave folder, is its modified behavior when presented with a signal that passes its threshold for input voltage. Instead of the signal folding back on itself (as in traditional wavefolders), the module will wrap its output back to zero. In the words of Mystic Circuits, this creates a "sharp transition almost like the wave has traveled through a portal." When fed with a harmonically rich waveform such as a triangle or sawtooth this can create an effect similar to oscillator sync. However, when the module is fed with a more complex audio source, the effect is an acid rain of distortion, or again in the words of Mystic Circuits, "like screams from another dimension."
