Landscape Ferrous
Landscape's Ferrous is a magnetic string resonator that utilizes six strong earth magnets and variable speed motor to generate harmonics and string-like swells across multiple strings. Built in collaboration with sound artist Victoria Shen, this handheld device is instrument agnostic so long as there are resonating steel strings: guitar, bass, dulcimer, piano, sitar, auto-harp, veena, erhu, and resonant steel objects. Interaction happens a few different ways: the large push button on the side will push the motor into a high RPM momentarily, a thumbwheel lets you adjust the speed as you like, a touch plate allows for phalangeal interaction, and a 3.5mm CV input lets you control the motor speed via modular signals. Perfect for all string players and sonic experimentalists, the Ferrous from Landscape is a wonderfully interactive device for exploring new modes of expression.
