Korg Opsix MkII Module

Possibly offering the biggest twists on FM synthesis in decades, Korg's Opsix MkII Module puts their unique Altered FM engine in a convenient desktop and rackmount format package. Matching the 64-voice polyphony of the MkII version, Opsix Module offers extensive sonic capabilities that completely redefine what it means to be an FM synthesizer. Though it may have roots in the classic six-operator FM sounds of the legendary DX7, the usage of ring modulation, wavefolding, filtering, and more put Opsix in a completely different category of synth.

Opsix offers over 40 algorithms, arranging its six operators in a myriad of ways to unlock completely new timbres at the turn of a dial. And remember, you're not strictly limited to traditional FM sounds, ensuring that Opsix is absolutely stuffed with sonic variety. There are also filter options available within each voice's signal paths, including models of classics like the MS-20 and Polysix to standard lowpass, highpass, and beyond. Add in the effects engine, which includes Vox amp models as well as chorus, reverbs, and more, and you've got a complete sound package from start to finish.

Sound design is only one part of the synthesizer package these days, and Opsix provides a number of ways to make your music dynamic and lively. Polyphonic step sequencing allows you to go beyond simple arpeggiation—though there is a great arpeggiator built into Opsix, too—along with the ability to use motion recording to capture parameter automation recordings in real-time. Connectivity to the outside world is vast, with MIDI I/O and USB affording connections to DAWs, MIDI 2.0 controllers, and more. Alter your perception of FM with the Opsix MkII Module from Korg.
