Grandstage X features the SGX-2 acoustic piano sound engine, offering the expressive touch of a real acoustic piano. It offers non-looping samples on all keys, with up to 12 levels of velocity switching, as well as damper resonance and simulated mechanical noise—providing a huge range of subtleties that, when combined, provide an uncanny playing experience. With a wide selection of upright, grand, and well-known simulated piano models, you'll always be able to find the right sound for your music. Moreover, the EP-1 engine provides classic tine and reed-based electric piano sounds, perfect for all you jazz and fusion players out there.

Organ sounds are also at the ready in Grandstage X, with CX-3, VOX, and FC-1 engines ready to give you drawbar combo organ and transistor organ sounds, complete with rotary and vibrato effects. Meanwhile, the AL-1 engine offers a complete polyphonic analog modeling synthesizer experience, while the HD-1 engine gives you a PCM sound source for a huge range of sampled instrument sounds: harpsichords, pipe organ, FM electric pianos, and much more. If you need a specific keyboard sound, Grandstage X will put it right at your fingertips.

Of course, a great sound engine wouldn't be the same without a great user interface. The real weighted hammer action 88-key RH3 keybed offers continuously variable Key-Touch control, allowing you to customize the keyboard response to your personal playing style. You also get a three-part control section for layering timbres and keyboard splits. Additionally, the onboard effect section offers multiple flavors of reverb and delay, while the built-in NuTube-powered Analog Tone function gives you access to authentic driven tube sounds. There's also a variable Unison function for thickening your sound by layering voices with slight detuning: a chorus like effect familiar to synthesizer enthusiasts.
