The JMT VDR-2 is a synthesis-based percussion box made for pulsing noise that morphs from jarring bursts of chaos to characterful tuned drum sounds. The VDR-2 gives the user a flexible drum voice in a small package with CV control of both the filter and the oscillator. Coupled with a capable LFO the VDR-2 is a great drum voice solution, with a no-frills aesthetic perfect for any synthesist from Monolake to Merzbow.

Updated from the original VDR-1, the VDR-2 features a number of changes and refinements for even more percussive fun. The Sweep control now applies only to the VCO rather than also affecting the filter, allowing for a wider usable range of sweeping drum tones. The trigger input has been replaced with a 3.5mm jack for simple integration into modular set-ups, and also no longer turns off the internal trigger source, allowing you to simultaneously sequence the device electronically while tapping on the enclosure to trigger the tone. The Fine tuning control has been improved for added precision, making it easy to fine tune kick drum sounds and more. Finally, the power switch has been removed, instead opting for simple plug-in power-up or the battery power option, which only allows the device to be on when the output jack is connected.
