Golden Age Project PREQ73 Premier
The Golden Age Project PREQ-73 Premier is a preamp and EQ inspired by the vintage 1073 preamp that has graced so many records. The gain control is on a stepped rotary switch with 5dB intervals and the selection between line level and microphone signals built into the gain levels. Mic gain ranges between 20dB and 80dB and line level range between -10dB and 20dB of gain, with both gain ranges separated by an off/mute position. Two inputs on the rear separate the mic and line inputs both on combination XLR/TRS jacks, each with their own transformer, and the inclusion of phantom power and selectable impedance settings make the PREQ-73 compatible with a wide range of instruments. The EQ section features both high pass and low pass shelving EQ with two frequency ranges per EQ, and the mid-range inductor-based EQ features three frequency ranges with +/-15dB of boost or cut. The PREQ-73 brings the preamp and EQ from the original 1073 into a compact package that still delivers on sound.
