?Man+ from Gieskies is a portable instrument for manipulating cassette tape playback. A large playable fader adjusts tape speed, down to a low stuttering glitch. In addition to speed manipulation, a number of buttons provide other ways to summon and mangle sounds from the cassette player. A tape stop button temporarily halts playback with a characteristic quick downward gesture, and plays again on release. This function can be reversed with a nearby switch. A low pass filter is applied by another button, momentarily ducking the high frequencies of the lo-fi cassette player. A button and potentiometer let you mix in the player's onboard FM radio with volume control for even more sound material to work with. Finally, sniff out the sounds of the internal motor with another button, which mixes in the sound with an adjustable low pass filter to focus in on the hum of the motor. ?Man+ from Gieskies is a surprisingly flexible audio mangler, great for creating lo-fi textures and glitches with all sorts of cassette tape audio.
