Florian Hecker Halluzination, Perskpektive, Synthese

Halluzination, Perspektive, Synthese by Florian Hecker documents Hecker's exhibition, Resynthese FAVN, at Kunsthalle Wien that ran from November 2017 to January 2018. The installation was an exploration of psychoacoustics, designed to subliminally override the mechanical processes of the senses. Through objects and synthetic sounds placed in the space, Hecker intended to create an experience of auditory hallucinations.

Edited by Vanessa Joan Müller, this collection brings together essays by art historians, curators, theorists, and researchers. These essays cover such topics as Computer music, musique concrète, and Stéphane Mallarmé's poem “The Afternoon of a Faun.” A series of tensor acoustic measurements that resemble colorized impressions of thermal imaging helps illustrate the psychoacoustic phenomenon of Resynthese FAVN. Contributors include Matthew Fuller, Vincent Lostanlen, Vanessa Joan Müller, Michael Newman, Axel Röbel, and Magnus Schaefer.
