Erica Synths Black 3109 VCF/VCA

Get the classic flavors of vintage analog filtering with the Black series 3109 VCF/VCA by Erica Synths, a combination filter and VCA based on the legendary sound of your favorite Roland instruments. Built on a modern version of the IR3109 chip found in the Jupiter and Juno series along with the SH-101, the Black 3109 continues that legacy with its 4-pole low pass styling with adjustable resonance to get those creamy and screamy filter sweeps. Where the Black 3109 expands its predecessors capabilities is in the volume compensation switch, boosting the level for any lost signal due to resonance boost. With more powerful bass and mid response, the Black 3109 excels at both modulation with a CV input and attenuator along with pitch tracking with its secondary CV2 input, making it great for achieving lead and bass lines. The internal analog VCA makes the 3109 quite flexible for taking in oscillators or sound generators and making full voices, just add an envelope or control signal into the CV input for completion. Whether you're designing individual sounds or are in need of a flexible and performable filter and VCA, the Black 3109 has got you covered.

The Erica Synths Black 3109 VCF/VCA is a lowpass filter and voltage-controlled amplifier combo built around the AS3109 VCF integrated circuit, a contemporary version of the IR3109 chip, found on vintage synths. Filters based on IR3109 had several drawbacks, including a volume drop when the resonance is increased so we added a volume drop compensation as well as a built-in VCA for more versatility in compact setups.
