FM Playground delivers a faithful Eurorack emulation of the classic OPL3 chip, the beloved source of gritty DOS-era soundtracks and early PC gaming sonics. Robust and feature-rich, the display gives you easy access to the various parameters that let you control this powerhouse of a synth voice. Choose between 2 and 4 operator operations with series or parallel configurations and assign just about any parameter to the CVs or to MIDI. Best of all, you can adjust the range and slope of control allowing for subtle or extreme modulation following the perfect spline. You can even use this polyphonically with 6 voices that can be MIDI controlled or CV controlled by assigning the appropriate CV/Gate channels.

You can choose between different flavors of vintage digital emulation, too. OPL3 is the main mode that offers the 4-operator mode and OPL2 offers 2-operator mode. In addition, OPL3 has 7 additional waveforms and OPL2 has 3, most of which are variations on sine waves, as one would expect. Indeed, this is one of the more robust and versatile modules out there from the sounds it makes, to the customizable CV, gate, and MIDI options, this is a great addition to any sound explorer.
