EHX Deluxe Memory Man 550-TT Analog Delay Pedal w/ Tap Tempo

The Deluxe Memory Man 550-TT from Electro-Harmonix is a tap-tempo BBD delay with a rich character that captures the sound of the original Deluxe Memory Man. It uses new-old-stock BBD delay chips for the characteristic sound that has captured musicians' imaginations for decades.

Control the delay time both manually and with tap tempo. The tap tempo features six musical divisions selectable by button. These are quarter note, dotted eighth, quarter note triplet, eighth note, eighth note triplet, and 16th note, making it easy to sync your delay to a wide variety of rhythms. The manual delay knob features a max delay time of about 600m, but with the tap tempo function, the maximum delay time goes all the way up to 1.5 seconds. Longer delay times cause signal degradation and a lo-fi delay effect, which may be useful in certain situations.

The feedback controls the amount of delay repeats; turning it up adds more repeats. At the highest settings, it will self-oscillate. Holding down on the tap button will engage a swell of feedback. This is great for pads and ambient washes. A built-in LFO provides complex chorus and wow-and-flutter style modulated delay effect with controls for both rate and depth. Use the send and return effects loop to add other effects in the feedback loop. This works fantastic with pitch shifters and EQs for shifting delays, but the possibilities are open-ended. The expression pedal input is freely routable to any of the parameters with the tap of a button. The expression pedal input also accepts CV with a 0–5V range, letting you integrate the pedal with your modular setup. This delay pedal offers a wide range of tones and the lush sound of BBD chips.
