EarthQuaker Devices Hizumitas

Working with legendary guitarist Wata from Boris, Earthquaker Devices's Hizumitas distortion pedal is a faithful recreation of her Elk BM Sustainer. Using her very own pedal, the team found a unique tonal characteristic that offered a heavy bottom end, with clear, gritty saturation—allowing her tone to cut through even the most sludgiest of sounds.

With three controls, volume, sustain, tone, you get a wide array of sounds—the sustain knob has a wide range of saturation, so small changes can create a huge impact. The tone knob boosts treble and mids above noon; below noon, the highs are tamed, mids are rolled off, and bass is boosted. Volume works as one would expect, with unity at around 9 o'clock and the full brunt of the pedal beyond that.

Not only for guitar, the unique tone circuit makes this great for bass, synth, or even for running percussion through for some added grit. Add well-defined thickness to your signal chain with the Hizumitas from Earthquaker Devices.
