The Doepfer A-188-9 High-Speed VCO provides rock-solid tracking of volt-per-octave control signals which remain precise even at very high frequencies, perfect for driving high speed inputs on other modules. With a two-position range switch, the A-188-9 can provide stable tracking from 12Hz to a soaring 450kHz, suitable for both traditional audio oscillator duties as well as clocking BBD modules, clock dividers, and other high-speed inputs. The circuit combines a precision VCO with a phased-locked loop to multiply the VCO frequency by a factor of thirty-two, with a slew limiter that adjusts the tracking speed of the PLL with a three-position switch.
Multiple waveform outputs provide flexibility in patching, with square, sawtooth, and triangle waveforms. At the bottom-right of the module, a dedicated high-speed output is provided, which can be used simultaneously with the audio VCO outputs in HSVCO mode. In addition to inputs for 1V/octave control and an attenuated CV input, a manual control for pulse width of the square output is available.
