Doepfer A-149-4

Random generators are one of the joys in the modular world and the A-149-4 from Doepfer offers four channels of such joy in both unquantized and quantized varieties. For quantization, there are many options selectable via illuminated buttons: octaves, quints (octaves and fifths), chord, scale, semi (chromatic), and continuous (unquantized). For the first four options you can choose whether to engage sixths and sevenths, and for chord and scale options you can choose between major or minor. The only knob on the module controls how great the octave range is and the trigger inputs are normalized downward, so you can generate four random voltages off of one trigger. For generating musical passages quickly, or just creating a bit of a uncertainty, the A-149-4 is a great choice.
