But don't worry, these improvements are mostly in noise-floor improvements and additional features—Seventeen 500 still provides that lovely, vintage 1176 character.

As a courtesy, one of the additions is a dry/wet mix control, allowing for parallel compression sounds to be dialed in with the Seventeen 500 alone. An optional sidechain highpass filter reduces the impact of low-end and bass frequencies on the amount of compression, while multiple units can be chained together using the Link feature.
