The Black Lion Audio B173 Quad is a four-channel mic and instrument preamp, inspired by the classic 1073 preamp from the 1970's. However, this is not a clone, rather a continuation of the ideas laid out by those historic pieces of music technology. It uses CineMag transformers for both input and output stages for a bit of extra warmth while still preserving the low noise floor with up to 70dB of gain. Inputs one and two feature a high-z input, allowing it to be used with guitars, basses, or other similar instruments that need DI treatment. Every channel features an LED VU meter, plus +48V phantom power and polarity inversion. The stepped input gain control provides precise level adjustment in preset increments. The B173 Quad provides four channels of amplification with clarity and a bit of character that works great on everything from vocals to acoustic drums to electric guitar.
