BehringerWasp Deluxe Desktop Synthesizer
Behringer Wasp Deluxe
The Behringer Wasp Deluxe desktop synthesizer is a reinterpretation of a classic, distinctively black and yellow synthesizer from EDP. The Wasp features a unique multi-mode filter that is buzzy and lends a great deal of character to the sound.
The filter is the heart of the synthesizer and is rather unique. It uses CMOS inverters to create its distinctive sound. Filter modes include lowpass, bandpass, highpass, and notch. In addition to filtering the internal oscillators, the filter also accepts external signals.
The Wasp features two oscillators with octave select and three wave shapes: pulse, ramp, and an enhanced waveform. One oscillator includes adjustable pulse-width, while the other has the ability to detune from the other oscillator. The detuned oscillator adds another level of harmonic interest to the sound. The LFO, labeled control osc, includes six waveforms including noise and random. Two envelopes are present on the Wasp, one for the filter and one for the amplifier.
The Wasp features USB and MIDI in and through, as well as pitch bend and glide parameters. In addition to the main final output, Wasp features a headphone output and the oscillators each have their own separate outputs. Like many of the other Behringer desktop synthesizers, it has the ability to be housed in a Eurorack case, with width of 80hp. The Wasp buzzes and growls like a jar full of bees.
