AtoVproject Gaeto

Gaeto from AtoVproject is a clocked logic module with many applications, deriving gate pattern variations, clock divisions, sub octaves, and more from logical operations on two input voltages. Each of Gaeto's two identical sections features inputs for Clock and Data, as well as an output and "non-output" which sends out the result of Gaeto's logic operation and its inverse. A mode switch and CV input allow you to switch between two operative modes, one for creating pulse patterns and another for longer, legato gates.

Despite vast applications, using Gaeto is simple. Plug a pulse signal or clock into Clock, and another voltage source into Data, like a different gate pattern or an LFO. When a clock is received, Gaeto references the last stored value at the Data input. If the signal at Data has crossed above 1V since the last clock, the channel's output sends a 10V gate, and the non-output will send 0V. If Data is below 1V, the opposite happens. In Gate mode gates are sent that match the original clock's pulse width, while Legato mode keeps outputs high until a new clock is received. Using these simple building blocks, Gaeto is capable of creating shifting and generative rhythms, dividing clocks, and even creating sub octaves with audio rate input signals.

Handy normalizations make many patches easier to achieve. Clock A is normalled to Clock B, making it easy to process the same reference tempo in multiple ways. Output A is normalled to the Data input of B, providing further manipulation of channel A. Finally, Non-output A is normalled to the Data input of A, creating a simple clock divider. For even more fun, Gaetos may be chained together via jumpers on the back, with two Gaetos adding up to create a highly competent shift register. As a multifaceted gate processing powerhouse that rewards creative patching, Gaeto is a useful module in most systems, likely to uncover new paths and possibilities in your patches.
