Adapted from the console-series API 205, the 505-DI's all-discrete design offers enough gain (up to 55dB) to bring pretty much any instrument-level source up to a recordable level. Unique among direct input modules, the 505-DI offers a continuously variable Tone control—moving from Thin to Fat and then Fatter—and a musically-useful high boost control for brightening the sound. With the 505-DI, you have plenty of gain and coloring options built into the box, obviating the need for a microphone input or EQ, and making for a recording chain that is short, simple, and true to your source.
