33 1/3 Can’s Tago Mago
Can's Tago Mago is one of the most influential records that came out of the Krautrock scene that emerged out of Germany in the late 60's and early 70's. This 33 ⅓ book details how the music was conceptualized and composed, the release of the album, and lasting impression on the world of rock music. It features interviews with members drummer Jaki Liebezeit, keyboardist Irmin Schmidt, and bassist Holger Czukay. Can had a unique recording approach including the hours of jamming that was cut down to fit into a record. Recording sessions lasted up to 16 hours, and were cut down by Czukay into the final version of the record. The book also tells the story of the author as a young man obsessed with record collecting in the pre-internet era.
