Perfect Circuit’s Rhythm Series Deluxe is one of the most interesting systems we could envision in 208hp for the creation of rhythmically-based music. With carefully selected modules that complement one another while still offering a broad range of sound design options, this system is ideal for anyone making rhythmic music with a keen ear for edgy, unique sounds. Assembled in a Tiptop Mantis case and featuring some of the most interesting Eurorack modules for percussive sound design, the Rhythm Series Deluxe will make sounds you have never heard.

Featuring wavetable synthesis, physical modeling, granular techniques, FM, sample-based methods, and even the option for classic analog percussion, this system brings a huge set of tools to your workflow. The Noise Engineering Basimilus Iteritas Alter is an additive percussion voice capable of everything from deep kicks to edgy basslines; it pairs excellently with WMD’s Chimera, a module designed for creating metallic percussion sounds both subtle and extreme. ALM’s Akemie’s Taiko offers wavetable-based percussive techniques while Erica's Black Wavetable VCO afford extensive wavetable sound design options. Intellijel’s Plonk is a physical modeling voice capable of bowed strings, pitched percussion, and all sorts of realistic (and unrealistic) plucked and struck sounds—truly a sound designer’s dream, created in conjunction with renowned virtual instrument makers Applied Acoustic Systems. The Erica Synths Pico Drums offers two channels of one-shot sample playback and comes preloaded with 64 high-quality percussion sounds from classic 808-style kicks and claves to gritty snares. The system does have some analog sound generation as well. The Frap Tools Sapel features four different noise outputs; pair these with the plucky Make Noise LxD dual lowpass gate or Intellijel Quad VCA for classic analog hats, snares, and more. The system’s audio path is held together and managed from the Qu-Bit Mixology, a performance-oriented four channel stereo mixer with dedicated aux send and return. Submixing can be handled with the Intellijel Quad VCA, with send effects and compression offered through the Erica Pico DSP and WMD MSCL, respectively.

Because each individual module is capable of such a broad range of sounds, offering an equally flexible set of control voltage and gate sources is critical. As such, we have picked some of our favorite modules for taking precise control of your system. The Malekko Varigate 8+ is a probability-based sequencer that provides eight channels of gates and two channels of pitch CV. With preset recall, options for randomization, and intricate means of rhythmic editing, it is an excellent tool for fine-tuning sequences and bringing your modular to the stage. The Malekko Voltage Block adds eight additional channels of CV sequencing (and many other clever tricks) to create perhaps the most powerful Eurorack sequencer available. ALM’s Pamela’s New Workout provides additional gate generation and tempo-synced modulation, while the Frap Tools Sapel provides a huge number of independent random voltages for injecting some clever uncertainty into your sound. The WMD/SSF Modbox adds two functionally distinct voltage controllable LFOs and sample & hold, providing further options for complex animation and automation within the system.
