Waldorf Music GmbH began nearly twenty years ago in Germany as Waldorf Music. Frequently integrating the pioneering work of iconic instrument designer Axel Hartmann, Waldorf’s sound engines and user interfaces looked unabashedly into the future with such daring products as the monolithic Wave and the Q virtual analog synthesizer line.
Since reforming as Waldorf Music GmbH in 2006, the company has released some of the most indispensable instruments on the market, including the Blofeld (available in desktop and keyboard incarnations), the Pulse 2 paraphonic analog synthesizer, as well as their all-powerful flagship, the Quantum. Beyond that, their technology can be found in many other manufacturers’ products including those by Digidesign, Terratec, and TC Works Soft- und Hard0ware GmbH.
