Instruo Scion
Instruo's Scíon derives modular control from organic material, providing CV and Gate signals from the included biofeedback sensors to enable patching possibilities with plants and other organisms. Based on the MidiSprout by Datagarden, Scíon is a flexible biofeedback interface which brings the living world into any patch, amplifying small conductance changes from the bioelectric qualities of organic surfaces like skin and leaves. These signals are processed within Scíon to generate CV and Gate signals that can generate aleatoric changes in patch parameters, or even become the center of control for your entire patch. Two included sensor pads connect via a single input on the panel, while the leaf-shaped electrode at the bottom offers touch-capacitive control when the sensors are not in use.
Four CV and four gate signals provide ample control for multiple parameters in your system, and ensure flexibility in finding signals which are useful to your musical goals. Likewise, a sensitivity control and CV input allow for dynamic adjustment to a wide range of organic materials. At the center of the module, a vertical fader provides Density control, which along with its CV input allows you to define the distribution of bioelectric fluctuations sent to the voltage outputs. For each of the four output pairs, onboard slew controls, CV attenuators, gate inputs, and manual Hold buttons allow for dynamic interaction between your patch and Scíon's biofeedback sensors. In addition to this cornucopia of patchable and parametric controls, multiple modes of pitch and timing quantization allow for diverse implementations of biofeedback signals, providing fertile ground for endless experimentation. To those looking to jam with their plants, let the Scion be thy guide.
