This change from the original bi-amped design in the larger HS series (HS5, HS7, HS8) has allowed for a compact and streamlined monitor with minimal loss in frequency response. At -10dB the monitors have a flat frequency response from 70 Hz - 22 kHz, providing a wide range of clear and accurate sound production for a monitor of this size. For those in a small space but looking for added low-end energy, the HS3s are a perfect pair to Yamaha's HS8S powered subwoofer.

Power and volume controls are conveniently located on the front of the HS3 alongside a headphone output, which means no more spelunking into a nether-realm of studio cabling to access commonly used features. On the rear panel is a room control switch that reduces gain under 500 Hz to minimize the boomy low-end which can result from placing monitors close to walls. Additionally, a high trim switch lets you boost or attenuate frequencies above 2 kHz to dial in the perfect response for your listening enviornment.
