The Mantle from Walrus is a premium bass preamp and DI that is designed to give you the best possible bass tone when plugging in directly to an interface or mixing board. Key to Mantle's professional quality sound are its custom Sapphire transformers that mimic the tone of Neve and API preamps, giving you a sound that doesn't just hang in the back, but can grab you from the front as well. The controls are incredibly simple, with a transformer-based Gain control that goes from -6dB to +23dB, as well as Bass and Treble controls that offer a boost or cut to either side of the middle knob position. Taking cues from studio gear, the Bass and Treble controls are rotary switches that have eleven discrete positions, making it easy to document and recall your settings. Both controls move towards a bell-shaped curve as you push the controls higher, and offer deep attenuation to get into low/high pass territory as you turn the controls down. Utilize the 1/4" and XLR outputs simultaneously for more complex setups, and the -10dB pad means your hot pickups are happily accepted.
