PixelWave from Subdecay takes the nostalgic tones of phase distortion synthesis and puts them under expressive control from the comfort of your guitar, bringing digital bliss to pedalboards everywhere. Inspired by classic and beloved synths like the Casio CZ series, which use phase distortion to generate vast timbres similar to the more successful FM implementations from Yamaha. In PixelWave, you get three oscillators and a dedicated sub-oscillator, with eleven unique waveshapes to sculpt into your own customized tones. PixelWave pairs this powerful starting point with a deep well of customizable parameters for designing a wide range of synthesized tones, from lush string ensembles to brash and brazen noise timbres.

While PixelWave offers numerous parametric controls to unlock a wide palette of sounds, controlling these parameters from the pedal is a breeze thanks to a streamlined editing workflow. Flip the switch into Matrix mode, and the three knobs at the top provide controls for each of the three main oscillators. Switch the detented rotary Select control into different positions to access each parameter, with the bypass switch allowing you to solo each oscillator independently for in-depth, ear-driven editing. Save your creations to 11 user presets, allowing you to instantly recall your favorite sounds. In Adjust mode, the three top controls allow for editing filter cutoff, sensitivity of the pick attack tracking, and a blend control between the synthesized sound and your clean tone. Finally, in Lock mode, you get access to the master volume control, as well as the Select knob, which chooses between your stored presets.
