Like the storied variable bias tube compressors of yore, Venos gives you program dependent compression which changes ratio and other characteristics in response to your input signal, responsive in both the amplitude and frequency domains. This design enables a lively and organic sound with a particularly smooth character perfect for the master bus, drum mixes, and more. In Venos, each control element is either switchable or offered as a rotary detented knob, with controls that adjust both channels simultaneously for easily returning to your favorite settings. Controls for attack and release time affect the speed of compression response, while the Threshold control sets the amplitude at which compression is engaged. Tailor your compression character further with the Bias control, which increases compression strength as Bias is increased. Venos's tube stage is controlled by a rectifier which influences attack and release times, with three flavors of diodes to summon a wide range of characters. Finally, the dedicated Input and Output level controls ensure a perfect level both into and out of the compressor, providing a range of options by balancing these two gain stages.

At the top right of Venos, the six position mode switch dramatically expands your creative options in master processing. Linear, Modern, and Vintage modes offer distinct flavors of analog filtering in the compressor's side chain signal, allowing you to target compression to different areas of the frequency spectrum. Focus and Punch modes are the secret weapon inside Venos, eschewing side chain filters for a totally new and much more dramatic compression character with an original circuit from SPL. Focus offers incredibly tight compression with a mid focus, while Punch brings an aggressive character never before heard from a variable bias design, perfect for powerful, hard-hitting mixes. A sixth mode allows you to employ the external side chain insert loop on the back of Venos, enabling you to incorporate your own side chain EQ or use the return input alone to side chain a signal from an external source. At the end of the chain, Venos offers two optional EQ presets AirBass and Tape, allowing you to boost low and high frequencies by 2dB with AirBass or summon the lovely and dark sound of analog tape in Tape mode.
