Pittsburgh Modular Double Helix

Spiral your way into spectral morphing modular fun with the Double Helix Chaotic Wavetable Processor from Pittsburgh Modular, a limited edition digital oscillator design with vast timbral processing potential. Don't get it twisted—while the Pittsburgh Double Helix Oscillator is an analog complex oscillator, the Double Helix Wavetable Processor takes a different, decidedly digital approach to creating captivating sounds in every knob turn. Resurrected from a shelved prototype design by popular demand, the Double Helix Wavetable Processor has returned for limited run, now condensed down to a slim 16hp layout. The module offers a unique design which fuses a core oscillator with a flexible, 9-bit wavetable engine, along with a cornucopia of selectable signal processors that expand its already vast timbral range far beyond what most designs would ever dare.

Onboard the Double Helix Wavetable Processor are two banks of sixteen unique wavetables, each with 16 waves that can be swept or stepped through. In addition to both coarse and fine Frequency controls, you can also adjust detuning of the wavetable engine from the core oscillator, inviting rich inharmonic tones perfect for percussion, experimental sound design, and textural elements of a patch. This broad sonic foundation is just the start of Double Helix's wavetable wizardry, going even further when incorporating the 16 effects processors onboard. Use the central Process Select knob to choose between a wide range of effects including analog-inspired processors like wavefolders, filters, and sync, digital manipulations like phase distortion and FM, and classic time-based effects like phasing and delay. In each mode, the Process Controller knob and CV input provides a single parameter control for sweeping through the range of each effect, making quick work of creating dynamic and dramatic timbral changes. At the bottom of the module, plentiful opportunities for CV control are provided, with many attenuation controls for hitting those sweet spots with your favorite modulation sources. As a wonderful return to the skronk-forward digital Eurorack designs of yesteryear, the Double Helix Wavetable Processor from Pittsburgh Modular is a fantastically unique sound source for any system.
