Patching Panda BD-Z

Make banging kicks, toms, percussion, and even bass lines with Patching Panda's BD-Z, an analog kick drum voice with loads of shaping parameters for creating classic to grungy drums. Based around a single sine wave, the BD-Z creates anything from zappy kicks to long-tailed 808s thanks to the individual amplitude and pitch decay controls. Each envelope control can vary from extremely clicky and short to monstrous and lengthy, and the amount control influences how high the pitch starts before decaying for creating a wide variety of effects. Additionally, the Accent input offers traditional accents on certain triggers as well as variable level control via the LVL/ACC parameter.

Where BD-Z deviates from your traditional synthesized bass drums is its extensive tonal properties. Introduce and modulate distortion over the sine wave for more abrasive tones, and introducing amplitude modulation can create warbly tremolo effects that are great for creating toms and interesting percussion. The thru-zero FM input allows you to frequency modulate the oscillator for even gnarlier tones, great for adding more bite to the transient, different tones to the body, or just making quite avant-garde drums. BD-Z offers 1V/Oct pitch tracking for making melodic percussion, and the positive and negative envelope outs make great for shaping and ducking other material in your modular system. Whether you want to make it your driving kick drum or utilize it for experimental percussion, BD-Z from Patching Panda will bring excitement and boom to any case.
