RVS Random Voltage Source
P4L RVS
The RVS from P4L is a collaboration with 4U synth manufacturer Slightly Nasty, whose design has been reimagined in the Eurorack format, offering a bevy of random voltage options that's perfect for any type of system. Starting at the top, RVS provides three different types of noise outputs: Light, Dark, and White. These contrasting noise sources determine which frequencies are present with White being even, Light more like blue noise with higher frequencies highlighted, and Dark more like brown noise with lower frequencies privileged. Light is internally normalized to the Serial In, which feeds the shift register.
Skipping to the bottom section, we have the 6-bit Shift Register with three different outputs: A, B, and A-B. These random voltages range from +/- 4.5V for A and B, and +/- 6.5V for the A-B section. Also in the bottom section is the dedicated Slew row with an In, Out, and Time smoothing control. The middle section contains a voltage-controlled Clock source with a Random gate output that is based on the clock speed. A Clock In lets you sync the gates with other modules and the Ramp Out sends out a waveform based on the internal clock, even when there is an external clock patched.
P4L's interpretation of the Slightly Nasty RVS is an exceptional and crucial addition to any rack as it is a fixture in so-called West Coast synthesis, adding chance and texture to every patch.
