To get you started right away, the Recursion Studio ships with four premade instrument patches capable of a wide range of visual effects and patterns. These include Fraxtal, a video feedback modeling fractal pattern generator, Interference a 2D wave interference simulator, Waviboi, a two channel 3D oscilloscope, and Catparty, which is exactly as hallucinogenic and meme-worthy as it sounds. Three UI modes for open format playing, performance-oriented mode, and a patch edit and creation mode let you use the device in multiple ways. Under the hood, The Recursion Studio creates visuals using 250+ modules arranged in a digital patch of multiple combined processes. Like a hardware video synth, these modules can be rearranged and patched to create complex functions and recursively modulated visuals. The resistive touch screen and configurable push-encoders and pads offer plenty of control over your final patch.

The expansive I/O on the Recursion Studio makes it easy to expand your patch with external analog and digital equipment. Eight inputs for control voltage with over and undervoltage protection offer plenty of ways to incorporate outside modulations on your patch parameters. A simple 3.5mm TRS connection lets you input a line level audio stream, which is analyzed to immediately interact with the preset patches onboard. This audio stream also features a throughput for routing unprocessed audio elsewhere. MIDI I/O provides opportunities for control, and an HDMI output ensures your final signal gets where it's going in high definition. Finally, an ethernet port and four USB connections provide wifi and internet connection for updates, the connection of additional webcams and video streams, and much more.
