Trails from Bela is a polyphonic gesture recorder that gives you four channels of independent melodic, rhythmic, CV, and MIDI control on a gorgeous multi-colored 3.5" x 3.5" capacitive touch interface. Across four different modes, Trails provides an exceptional amount of control. The main mode is the gesture recorder that gives you the aforementioned four channels of control. When using this, you have two CV outputs for the X and Y positions, which are available on the breakout, along with a CV input for reset or modulation duty and a single gate output, all per-channel.

Meter mode gives you an overview of the entire module showing you how far along in the recorded gesture each channel is. This becomes super useful when using multiple channels as a sequencer or melodic generator. When viewing the channels you have the options to adjust the loop length and offset individual channels. This makes creating polyrhythms a breeze, especially with the capability to have all channels resync with the press of a button.

Switch to the Fader mode and you now get multiple banks of eight touch faders that can be switched between using the Touch Bar. Speaking of the Touch Bar, it's not just the Fader mode that gives you access to this, it can also be used with any of the other modes. It lets you have macro control over the playback speed of your gestures or slew between notes. Hit the Scale button and you have instant access to a two-octave quantizer that is visually programmed and easy to set on-the-fly for morphing melodies and harmonies.
