Behringer 1005 ModAmp
Combining multiple signals through multiplication, the ARP 2500-inspired 1005 ModAmp from Behringer is a great way to add complex amplitude modulation to your Eurorack system. Behringer has looked to the past at the famous 2500 series synthesizer from ARP in order to create this module.
The 1005 ModAmp combines both a modulator and a VCA section to produce complex results. Ring modulation, sometimes called RM, or four quadrant multiplication, combines two signals to create rich inharmonic overtones reminiscent of bell or metallic sounds. Signals from subaudio rates up to 20kHz can be used at the A and B inputs. The initial gain of input A can be set by the amplifier gain knob at the top and the response can be set to exponential or linear.
The 1005 can operate in two modes, MOD and UNMOD, which can be turned on or off via the buttons or with external gate signals. In UNMOD mode, channel A passes directly to the VCA without being affected by the modulation circuit. CV outputs for both A and B channels with ratio and tune controls can be connected to add further harmonic overtones and complexity to the modulator signals. Able to create complex and harmonically interesting sounds as well as amplitude modulation for input signals, this module is a powerful tool in your setup.
