Befaco Slew V2

Slew from Befaco offers a compact source for controlling the rate of change on any signal, allowing you to create sliding portamento notes, simple envelopes, and more. As both a voltage controlled lag processor and slope detector, Slew is a versatile tool that can find a place in nearly any patch. Independent controls for rising and falling slopes let you dial in the amount of lag for both rising and falling signals, giving you precise control to create nuanced movement for any patch parameter. The Rising output sends a gate when the output voltage is rising, while the Falling output sends a gate during falling output movement, enabling you to time other events in your patch related to the signal direction. Using these simple utilities provides a surprisingly wide range of applications in a patch, including the ability to apply a gate to the input and derive a flexible ASR envelope generator at the output.

The Shape control smoothly adjusts the shape of voltage changes at the output. Linear response is available at the left position, with increasingly nonlinear response towards the right, where the speed of voltage changes increases the further the input voltage is from the output voltage. Below the Shape control there is a three position Range switch, which sets the range of times for the slew generator so you can achieve both snappy slides and long-winded decays. Finally, a CV input is available at the bottom of the panel, with a three position switch that selects between CV control of the rising stage, falling stage, or both simultaneously. As a versatile utility in a slim form factor, Slew from Befaco is a fantastic addition to any system, offering both simple functionality and creative patching potential.
