uBurst from After Later Audio is an ultra-compact version of Mutable Instruments' phenomenal Clouds module, providing the same texture synthesizing capabilities in a slim 8hp form factor. Onboard the module is the Parasites 2.01 firmware, offering the latest and greatest version of this Eurorack staple. For the uninitiated, Clouds is a granular audio processor that allows you to take in a stereo audio source and generate lush pads, digital ambience, and more, creating a complimentary texture to the input signal in moments. In uBurst, you get this same functionality despite its much smaller size, making it a great addition to virtually any system.

Key to uBursts wonderful processing capabilities are that it continuously plays grains derived from an incoming signal, at a rate determined by the Density and Size settings. Density affects the overlap between grains over time, while Size is the size of grains generated from the buffer. Stack many grains to create dense textures, or use the trigger input to seed grains along with other elements in your patch. The Freeze button allows you to stop this constant process, freezing the buffer to create a steady sound without recording new audio into the buffer. Thanks to the Parasites firmware, uBurst also features a number of other modes including samplers, delays, and other granular effects, providing an endless world of audio processing to explore. An oldie but a goodie in a compact hardware design, uBurst from After Later Audio is a time-tested, time-bending processor that any modular lover can appreciate.
