After Later Audio Stairs
Ascend to a new plane of Eurorack patching with the stereo spectra-shaping power of Stairs, a multimode stereo ladder filter from After Later Audio. Ladder filters are a time-tested design for creating sweetly resonant low pass frequency filtering. Stairs takes on this classic approach while also extending functionality in multiple domains. In addition to two- and four-pole low pass outputs, Stairs provides high pass and band pass outputs for each channel, expanding your options for sound sculpting on all your stereo sources.
Alongside typical controls and CV inputs for frequency cutoff, resonance, and input level, Stairs provides a Bias knob and CV input which allows you to starve its sequential transistor groups of bias current. Turn the resonance control up a bit, and this Bias starving causes Stairs to misbehave with quirks like detuning, warbles, and full-on glitches. Using Stairs without the Bias starve provides a fantastic clean filter with tracking around three octaves, while the Bias control offers plenty of opportunity to explore the outer edges of its sonic possibilities.
High pass and band pass options extend beyond most typical ladder filters. Low resonance settings provide typical HP and BP behavior, while pushing the resonance and input level unlock unusual behavior. Thanks to its multiple outputs, you can even patch these filter channels in series when stereo processing is unneeded in your patch.
