nRings from After Later Audio is a miniaturized version of the Mutable Instruments Rings Resonator, keeping all the beloved functionality of the original in a slim 8hp size. Rings is a resonator, which uses crafty filter networks which are excited by another audio signal to synthesize rich physical modeling sounds. Featuring multiple resonator types including a versatile Modal resonator and both sympathetic and inharmonic string models, nRings is great for creating organic tones in any rack. Capable of up to four voice polyphony, nRings can generate four tones with overlapping sounds, allowing you to send in multiple triggers to "Strum" out chords. The module takes in audio to excite the resonator at the input, then triggers a new excitation with each trigger sent to the Strum input, which also defines the switching between its polyphonic voices. Also onboard is a V/Oct input for tuning these tones to specific frequencies with a sequencer or other control voltage source. Thanks to its smart design and some convenient internal normalization, you can control this entire process with only a single CV signal sent to the V/Oct input, as nRings will create its own internal exciter signal and switch the strummed string on each voltage change at the V/Oct input. Beyond this basic functionality, the timbre and tone of the resonator can be manipulated with the Shape, Bright, and Damp parameters, each with their own CV inputs, as well as a dedicated FM input for even more far out tones. As a recreation of one of the most classic designs in all of Eurorack, nRings from After Later Audio is a time-tested sound source and audio processor that makes a great addition to any system.
