Vintage Synth Lab VCF-74 MK2
The VCF-74, from Vintage Synth Lab, is a voltage controlled filter inspired by the Traveler filter from the Univox Mini-Korg. It features a cascaded dual filter design with resonance over each aspect of the filter, a feature which enables the creation of enviable nuanced low-pass, high-pass, and bandpass sounds.
The module features input and output volume controls alongside the signal boost between the high- and low-pass filters. Consequently, the VCF-74 is particularly suitable for experimentation and applications necessitating an array of different filter types.
VCF-74 MK2 Features
- Modeled after the classic Korg Univox Mini-Korg Traveler filter
- Cascaded highpass and lowpass filter
- Gain control at every stage
- Voltage controllable resonance and cutoff for each filter
- Width: 14hp
- Current draw: 38mA @ +12V / 44mA @ -12V

2HP Vowel Speech Synthesizer With VCF 74 MK2
The tiny 2HP Vowel is a eurorack speech synthesizer module with two algorithms and voltage control over all three of its parameters. In this video we ran the Vowel through the Vintage Synth Lab VCF-74 MK2 filter. We used TipTop Audio 808 drum modules for the drums and used the Koma Field Kit FX for mixing and effects. Sequencing comes from the Korg SQ-1 and Malekko Varigate 4+, and the Quad Envelope produces the envelopes.
